Academic Personnel Actions

All job related actions for tenured/tenure eligible faculty, continuing status/continuing status eligible academic professional, lecturers, professor of practice and all other academic employees on a multi-year appointment are handled through the Dean’s Office. For additional information or questions, please contact the Dean’s Assistant.

For all other year-to-year appointments and postdoctoral scholars, please contact the HR Manager in the Office of Finance & Administration for information or questions.

Staff Job Changes

Changes to an employee’s job classification (title), salary or FTE needs to be approved before the employee can be notified and the action can be processed. 

Approvals – actions will require Dean or Provost level approval. The most common actions are represented below. The Office of Finance & Administration HR team can assist with more specific scenarios not addressed.

Salary increases that require funding from outside the home college or unit always require Provost or EVP/CFO approval

Definitions:           

a) Promotion – moving to a different job with greater responsibilities, in a higher category with higher pay

b) Internal Reassignment – change in responsibilities to current job; may result in review of pay

c) Internal Job Transfer – same job title OR remains in same category and MRP, may be in a different work location and/or department

Submitting a Request – Requests can be submitted through the College’s eForm system using the HR: Job Change Request form.

Student Job Changes (Hourly)

Approvals – Changes to a student’s job, pay or the termination of their position requires a request from the supervisor. Requests that result in an increase to the budget will also require the Office of Finance & Administration post-award approval if funded by grants, and the Director’s approval if funded by the unit’s state and/or local account.
